One of the questions that I received after releasing Issue number 21 was, “What are the common indicator that a dream is prophetic rather than just informative or personally evaluative?”

Before jumping into the answer, consider, that all dreams can have a prophetic bent to them, whether they are literal, informative, corrective, or have some other purpose.

Example: Consider looking at a clock and it reads 3:16 PM. Your mind might go to:

• I’m late for picking up the kids.

• OR

• It may immediately goto John 3:16.

  The Lord could be speaking a message to you, when you simply glance at the clock. However, the main message is, that the time is 3:16 PM.

So just because a dream has an interpretation and just because the dreamer knows that it is an accurate interpretation, does not mean that there is not a prophetic message as well.

Similarly, consider that a dream that is an information dream, can also be corrective in nature. Simply by informing you of certain things, it helps you to change something in your life.

The information was vital and you needed it.

However, the Lord is also prompting your spirit, to consider your ways.

Dreams can do more than one thing at a time.

The next 3 Issues will be dedicated to this subject of prophetic dreams.

There are three categories of Prophetic dreams according to Colette Toach in “The Way of Dreams and Visions”

Issue 23 will be dedicated to “Internal Dreams”

Issue 24 will be dedicated to “Internal Prophetic Dreams”

Issue 25 will be dedicated to “External Prophetic Dreams”

Internal Dreams are about YOU and YOU ALONE! Its function is much like a Word of Knowledge.

It is about your:

• Current spiritual condition.

• Your current Ministry

• Or your current relationship with the Lord.

• Or a combination thereof

These Dreams are meant to bring insight into your past and current spiritual state.

Everything in the dream is about you. Every person and attitude and situation has something to do with you.

• Your Aunt Sally being in your dream has nothing to do with Aunt Sally. She is representing some aspect of you or your past.

• In you dream if Aunt Sally dies then something about Aunt Sally that relates to you has died or needs to die.

This is how you interpret an Internal Dream.

Internal Prophetic Dreams are about you and you alone and it pertains to events concerning you and you alone in your future.

The difference in the two types of prophetic dreams are simply:

• Internal Dreams are about your current state, and past issues that affect your current state.

• Internal Prophetic Dreams are about events of your future.

The Third Category of Prophetic Dreams is:

External Prophetic Dreams.

External Prophetic Dreams are mainly for the Prophet.

This dream:

• Does not pertain to the dreamer.

• It Is a specific word from the Lord to the Body of Christ.

• This Word comes through HIS servant the Prophet.

There is much information to go over for each of these categories of Prophetic dreams and we will dive in to our first, Internal Dreams, in our next Issue.
