Today we are going to look at BIBLICAL Interpretations vs Secular Interpretations of Dreams.

The difference and the possible consequences associated.

The BIBLICAL Interpretation will communicate GOD’S MESSAGE to you for His purposes

God put you here for a purpose

…and He communicates it to us in many ways

… He is sealing your INSTRUCTIONS in your Dreams!

Job 33:14-18 Is full of revelation about the purpose of Dreams and Visions, lets look at it.

Job 33:14-18 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Notice it says “to keep back man from “his” purpose” - from Man’s own purpose. If it were capitalized it would be God’s purpose.

God is trying to save us from ourselves and we won’t stop, shut up, and listen for His still, small voice so He speaks in Dreams and Visions when deep sleep falls upon men…

This answers one of our main questions:

Why does God NOT speak to me during the day?

The Bible is pretty clear in that He does speak to us in all sorts of ways, and yes while we are awake and during the day.

Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.

Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” - This is a quote from the Old Testament Jeremiah 31.33

With these 2 scriptures we see that the VOICE of God is heard by all languages and the LAWS of GOD are inscribed in the hearts and minds of man “after those days” (“after those days” WHAT DAYS? more good deep dive material for our coming Bible Nerd Study)

However,

??? Are you listening during the day ???

If God Had 20 years what could He say to me?

• By the time you are 60 years old you would have slept 20 years

• This is when God grabs your attention and “seals your instructions”

• It is time to LEARN HOW TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE IS SAYING

It is not just a matter of interpretation but

Interpreting BIBLICALLY to gets GOD’S instructions for you.

If we interpret incorrectly we may not only miss what God is saying but as we will see in the dream shared by John Paul Jackson below, it may be vital that we get it right.

Today we need to establish what we are doing, why we are doing it and specifically, how we are doing it. The HOW will determine whether we hear God, the enemy or whether we are just listening to the wind.

Biblical Dream Interpretation vs Young or Freud models

In the CD set from John Paul Jackson “The Biblical Model of DREAM interpretation” JP Jackson is very passionate in his defense and promotion of The Biblical Model for Dream interpretation.

• The Same Dream will have totally different interpretations based on the Model used to interpret it.

• A Biblical Model results in a ‘God’ interpretation

• A Soul/Psyche (Young or Freud) Model will result in a soul-ish interpretation.

Soul/Psyche Dream Model will result in:

• Temporary change or answers

• Current needs addressed

• Introspection or “Me” focused

• It will speak into the collective truth (the truth of the day)

Biblical Dream Model will result in:

• Eternal change or answers

• Speaking into our purpose

• It is Spirit driven

• A God-perspective - What God says, changes God is bringing

JP Jackson relates a story of hearing a radio program while traveling and the caller shared a dream with the host and the host gave a “secular” interpretation which really triggered JP Jackson negatively. I have posted the Dream below with the 2 different interpretations. The Biblical interpretation and a non-Biblical interpretation.

“A woman was looking out of her kitchen window into the backyard at the children’s swing set. She noticed spiders everywhere. She then went to the store to buy something to kill the spiders. The Hardware clerk told her that she needed something to kill what the spiders eat and that will kill the spiders.”

Secular Dream Interpretation

• This dream is about your inner child (play set)

• The spiders are all the little things that are keeping your inner child from the comfort and security that you crave.

• The store clerk is a counselor, counseling you on the healing of your inner child

BIBLICAL Dream Interpretation

• There are many little things effecting your children

• These are occult issues (spiders)

• The clerk is Jesus telling you to kill what the demons live off of

• Then your children will not be effected anymore

At the end of the call the Woman that shared the dream said to the host “Oh, I thought that this was about my children because they are having nightmares”

• Secular: Notice that the secular interpretation focuses on the dreamer and how the healing will come from getting in touch with their inner child and working out there stuff.

• Secular: Leaves the children still in danger

• Biblical: biblical interpretation focuses on how the enemy is effecting her children

• Biblical: The biblical interpretation has Jesus pointing to the demonic influence on her children (maybe from tv, school, friends, etc.)

Note: The Dreamer (the woman) had a sense of what the dream was about

A biblical interpretation might have been just enough for the woman to realize that whatever her children are being exposed to is creating an open door for the enemy to sow fear into their lives. (media, school, friendships etc.)

Though not covered by JP Jackson the fact that the woman was looking into the backyard may speak of things in the past. Her past, her family history or something in the recent past. A good place to start as the dreamer seeking what specifically is affecting her children (If she would have received the correct interpretation)

• The PLAY SET points to her children

The clerk is the “authority on spiders” and there elimination. This is a heavenly authority pointing to the elimination of the demonic influence on the woman's children. We can refer to him as a messenger of God or Holy Spirit or Jesus Himself.

• A male in this “authority” position is usually Jesus

• A female is usually Holy Spirit

• And a father in this “authority” position would be Father God.

• Backyards - the past (generally speaking)

• Front yards - the future

• Side yards - the present

If you feel better just referring to the clerk as a heavenly messenger that is fine.

• Spiders often are a reference to demonic activity, witchcraft or occult activity.

How do we get good at BIBLICAL interpretation?

• It starts with the Bible (Yes, it is a big book, but God will guide you through if that is your desire)

• Start small

• work the basics in small bites

  Basics: 

• Prayer (talk to God as a man talks to his friend)

• Read (a few minutes in the morning, a few minutes before bed)

• Meditate on the Word (Find a small verse each day to mull over)

• Ask God for clarity on this verse (He’ll probably give you another verse)

• Put someone before yourself (i.e. put into practice)today. (more than what is typical)

• Write (Write down impressions, Dreams, thoughts that pop in your head)

  When you start getting insight you will know God is working and the fun is just beginning

• I Don’t know anything about the Bible.

• I Don’t have anyone to teach me.

• Others are much smarter and far ahead of me, what can I know, what use can I be.

These are things we all tell ourselves (or is it the enemy whispering his lies)

The Bible

• If you have been studying the Bible for years the Lord will no doubt speak to you through what He has been teaching you in His Word

• If you have been reading the Bible but not necessarily “studying” it, God will meet you right where you are at and revelation into His Word will start flowing. Buckle up!

• If you have only cracked the Bible open a few times or never at all, GOOD NEWS, God will meet you where you are at.

God will use the humble regardless of your knowledge base or your starting point.

Humility is to know WHOSE you are. Humility IS NOT thinking yourself “not worth it”, “of no importance”, “less important”, “not worthy of salvation”, “not capable”

Without posting the dozens of scriptures that say otherwise I will simply state that

When the FATHER looks at you He sees Jesus, He would not change a thing, come as you are. Colossians 1:22 ”yet he has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him, holy and blameless and beyond reproach“ (His - Jesus ; Him - The Father)

When Jesus looks at you He feels a deep compassion that the FATHER has for you and He pursues you right to the cross. Just a part of what Jesus says in John chapter 17

_{John 17:8-10 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.}

When Holy Spirit Looks at you He prompts you to

“go this way”,

“don’t step there”,

“walk away”,

“pursue that relationship”,

“run from that relationship”,

“You are becoming more like Jesus every day”,

“I know it is hard”,

“I’ve been there for I AM the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead and I live in you”,

“Let me comfort you”,

“let me teach you”,

“take my council”,

“the FATHER loves you!”

You will be called higher as you pursue Him in His Word

Regardless of what group of Bible reader you start as, You are being called to the next level

• Start reading 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes at night, see what happens

• Pretty soon you will be thinking Bible things during the day.

• And so it begins
