DREAM Submitted
“I keep dreaming of where I grew up as a kid and it’s always tied to a dog or a wolf. Some cases I’m fighting it, other cases it’s just growling and pretending to charge me. Lastly, I see this dog or wolf appear from hidden places trying to intimidate me. Last night I could see it pretty clearly and I just woke up from a nap and I dreamed about my old home again and there was another dog in it. “

Today’s Insight
Animals in dreams
Animals generally, in a dream, have a specific meeting. However, if there is a specific meaning to the dreamer for a certain animal, that is most likely the meaning in the dream.
Eg. A snake usually carries a negative connotation. However, if the dreamer works with snakes in a zoo setting or a lab setting or studies them in nature, then the general interpretation for that snake will be much different than someone who is scared of snakes, or someone that doesn’t have any interaction with snakes.
General Information: In general a specific animal has a specific meaning. Animals that are mentioned in the Bible for instance used in metaphors, proverbs, parables, etc. relay a specific message and meaning consistent with the Biblical narrative.
Alternate Meaning: An animal in the Bible may be used in different ways for different circumstances, so the rest of the dream would have to be taken into account in order to determine its meaning based on the different ways it is depicted biblically.
Eg. “The Lion of the tribe of Judah” (Gen 49:9,10; Rev 5:5) is a reference to Christ but “the devil, your enemy, goes about like a roaring lion.” (1 Peter 5:8) is obviously Satan. - We see that a Lion can mean totally opposite things in the Bible so context is important.
Personal Meaning: A personal meaning for an animal in a dream “may trump” another meaning. Maybe there is a dog in your dream. Many times biblically a dog is a derogatory term. In the New Testament dogs are a term used for gentiles or Samaritans.
Personally
You may love dogs, grew up with dogs even own a number of dogs
You may use dogs for hunting
You may have had a traumatic experience with a dog or dogs
? Then how do I know what a particular animal in a dream means ?
As a rule your personal meaning will take precedent in a dream (not 100% of the time)
The General and Alternate meaning will come to light based on the rest of the dream (i.e. The Lion in the example above)
I am using words like it “may be” or “sometimes” or “most often” because dreams are personal.
Your Dream from 2019 might take on new meaning in 2025 based on life experience, God wanting to enlighten you further on what He was telling you previously or a variety of other reasons.
? What if it is not mentioned in the Bible or is clearly not what the Bible portrays ?
ANY DREAM INTERPRETATION THAT RUNS CONTRARY TO BIBLICAL PRINCIPALS SHOULD BE TAKEN VERY LIGHTLY AND PRAYED ABOUT. I WOULD LEAN TOWARDS IT BEING WRONG
Look at the way the Bible references the Animal. Is it always the same? If not, use the example of the DOG. What does it mean to you.
What are the traits of the animal (e.g. A snake is essentially a long tail (or tale). A lie. the longer the tale the longer the lie. A 20 foot snake may be a 20 year lie. The fatter the snake the fatter the lie. !A big fat lie!
Is the animal an unusual size (Giant bug?)
Is the color of the animal correct? (Colors have meaning, we will cover this in a future post)
Is the animal out of place? ( Monkey in an office cubicle, bear driving a car, etc.)
In Our Next Issue We Will Be Discussing WATER In Dreams and its many meanings based on how it is seen (Rain, pond, lake, ocean, waterfall, etc)
An INTERPRETATION of Dream above
»>The dreamer above is dealing with something from his past«<
The DOG or WOLF is a threat, a demon from his past, and Most likely a GENERATIONAL issue past down (ie grandparents)
- He is never inside the house always outside of the house
Since the dreamer grew up at his grandparents home and the past issue is not inside the house, it is pointing to something generally from that time period.
- Everything in the dream seems like real time
The Lord is letting the dreamer know that this is still effecting you and needs to be delt with
- Doesn’t have any true colors that pop out more realistic
This seems to be unimportant unless the lack of color stands out, then it could mean the dreamers life is colorless due to this issue
- Sometimes the dream takes place at night
More context needed, but may indicate a dark thing is the issue
- He is still having dreams about his grandparents house which is his childhood home.
referenced above
God wants the dreamer to remember and address a situation, such as sin, trauma, an event, or a generational iniquity/curse/sin. It is affecting them today in real time, and the dreamer cannot move forward and fulfill their calling with this issue impacting their daily life.
